I asked ChatGPT to define CI, and this is what it said: “CI refers to the deliberate insertion of government agents or actors into online or real-world communities that harbor or spread conspiracy theories or extremist ideologies. The goal of these infiltrators is to subtly influence the group’s thinking, discredit unfounded theories, or foster internal discord, reducing the group’s influence or appeal. Rather than direct confrontation, cognitive infiltration relies on blending in with the group and manipulating discussions from within.”
